2 Timothy 3:16 - Meaning In Every Verse

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" (NIV)

This is the verse that this entire website is built around. It carries a simple message that is difficult to misinterpret, however I would like to examine this verse to reveal a deeper meaning.

Before I understood this verse, I would read my Bible and, whenever I read something that I didn't get anything out of, I would assume it was just there to bridge the gap between two helpful sections. However, as I grew closer to God, some of these verses started to teach me things and I realised that every verse has meaning, even if I didn't yet understand it. This is the surface message of 2 Timothy 3:16, every verse has a reason for being in the Bible.

Often this is where most people leave it. They see the surface message and assume that's all there is, but if you've read any of my posts on this site, you'll see that I disagree. There is a deeper message in each verse, there is something more to find.

As I began to examine verses more closely I found that every verse seemed to have a message in it, each verse, no matter how bad it seemed (referring to some verses about death and devastation), I could always find a message of hope in it. I grew to understand God's character, he is a loving father who, at times, disciplines his children.

No matter what verse you look at, there is a message in it, often multiple messages. However, to see and understand these messages you need to look, they will rarely be visible from a quick glance.

I hope that this post has revealed why this website exists and I hope that it has encouraged you to look at each Bible verse in a new perspective. I firmly believe that there is meaning in every verse and that, if we press in, God will reveal it to us.

Father God, I am amazed at how complex your word is, I am in awe of how many messages a sentence can hold. Lord help me to understand your word better. Help me to see each message that it holds. Help me to see the meaning in every verse. Amen.
